Due to several factors, both personal and business related, I have made several decisions around my practice:
1) I will be continuing with my part-time hours of 12-7PM on Mon-Thurs for the foreseeable future, even after returning to in-person appointments. These new hours should not impact curre...

I have never been her client, but I have known Kim Lycan her entire life. She decided before college to dedicate herself to serving as a mental health counselor; she truly wants to make a difference in people's lives. It was sometime into her journey when her focused shifted to providing hope for children, teens and young adults. Kim will encourage friends, family, and, I'm sure, clients to make changes that will empower them to make positive changes. That being said, she also has a fun, playful, and quirky personality that appeals to kids, teens and adults! Kim is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about her work, so I can confidently give this personal recommendation for Lycan Counseling, PLLC.

I have worked with Kim on various projects and I have always found her to be a compassionate and caring individual who does what is right. She is energetic in her work and you can tell she loves it. She not only works hard for her clients, but for the community as well. She is a strong advocate for women and children and has also been a part of several projects in the area to raise money for Eating Disorder treatment. I definitely recommend her!

My family worked with Kim for about a year before she moved to her private practice. I appreciated how great she was with my son. He didn't get along with other counselors we tried, with one exception. When that person moved out of town, we were happy to find Kim. She was always kind, but challenged us to build better skills. I am grateful for her help and would return if my family needs help in the future.

About Me

Hello! My name is Kim Lycan and I am excited to welcome you to my private practice!

I am a licensed mental health counselor specializing in child and adolescent mental health. I have been working as a therapist since 2014 across many settings. I currently work treating ages 5-30. I have experience working with eating disorders, trauma, anxiety, depression, defiant behaviors, aggression, anger, suicidal ideation, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and more. I also provide LGBTQQ+ affirming counseling.
I graduated from Eastern Washington University with my MS in Applied Psychology. Since then, I have worked to develop my personal approach to counseling, while keeping up with evidence-based techniques and current neuroscience research. I believe in the inherent worth and uniqueness of each person. Therefore, I take an individualized approach in which we work together toward your goals by building on your strengths, utilizing natural supports, and working together to develop effective strategies for dealing with life’s challenges. In my work with children, I believe that parents play an important role in the therapy process and I often hold sessions with parents or families to improve relationships within the family system. I will also incorporate, at times, components of art, music, and play therapy as a tool for engagement, communication, and understanding.

In my personal life I can be found at a coffee shop or Barnes and Noble with my nose in a book. I also enjoy several art forms, water activities, and anything I can do while chatting with friends or family.

Below I have listed the insurances I accept. Please call or text me  if you have any questions. I would  be happy to chat about what support counseling can provide for you! Also check out my social media.
